How AP Calculus BC at Brightfox works

AP exam prep is a two-phase journey: for most of the year, we focus on personalized tutoring to strengthen your grades. Starting in late March, we shift to dedicated AP exam preparation for the mid-May test — including a diagnostic exam, targeted tutoring, and extra practice tests.

At Brightfox, you buy a package of tutoring credits you can use on any service — test prep, subject tutoring, college counseling — and apply to any sibling. Four-year expiration, nothing goes to waste.

Choose the format that works best for your family. Come into our San Ramon center, go fully online, or mix both. We have a 7 pm night-before cancellation policy so unexpected schedule changes are never a problem.

Scheduling at Brightfox is simple and flexible. Choose the subject and all available time slots appear. Book the same slot each week or change it up. Sessions are one hour on weeknights and one and a half hours on weekends.

Brightfox uses a 2:1 student-to-teacher ratio — the instructor alternates between two students, giving each genuine 1:1 instruction. In between, you practice independently, reinforcing what was just taught.

Around mid-March, students take a diagnostic AP exam from home — 60–90 minutes, autograded instantly. Afterward we meet to review results, identify strengths and gaps, and build a customized two-month plan.

Each AP program includes five full-length practice tests — one diagnostic in March and four more starting around April 15th. Students take them on our platform, with both multiple-choice and free-response sections, all included at no extra cost.

After every session our instructors send a summary note texted to you instantly. Log into the parent portal any time to see topic-by-topic progress and practice test results — no need to ask your student what happened.
