How SAT/ACT® Prep at Brightfox works

In person or online, get exceptional results.

Free diagnostic exam

Find out where your student stands. We'll send you a username and password so your student can take a fully digital practice test from home, for free. You'll get the score via text, and then book a consultation to review the results.

Consultation to create a plan

We'll meet to review the results and craft a month-by-month plan for when your student will take the exam, how many hours they'll need, which subjects to focus on, and what practice tests to take along the way.

Buy tutoring hours, use on anything

At Brightfox, you buy a package of tutoring hours in increments of 25. You can use them on any service — test prep, AP tutoring, subject tutoring, or college counseling — and they apply to any sibling. Credits are valid for four years. Nothing you buy here is wasted.

Online, In Person, or a Mix of Both

At Brightfox you choose the format that works best for your family. Come into our San Ramon center, go fully online from anywhere, or mix it up — online on weeknights, in person on weekends, whatever fits your schedule. We have a 7 pm night-before cancellation policy, so unexpected schedule changes are never a problem.

Start Scheduling

Scheduling at Brightfox is simple and flexible. Sign up for sessions through your parent or student account — set a fixed weekly schedule or pick sessions one at a time. Plan 1–2 sessions per week for steady progress, and 2–3 sessions per week as the exam approaches.

How Sessions Work

Brightfox uses a 2:1 student-to-teacher ratio — the instructor alternates between two students, giving each genuine 1:1 instruction. In between, you practice independently, reinforcing what was just taught. This research-backed model maximizes both explanation time and focused practice.

Homework and Practice Tests

Brightfox offers two ways to get extra practice between sessions. First, instructors assign 10–15 targeted problems from the Brightfox workbook after each session. Second, students get unlimited access to 30+ full-length digital practice tests that mirror the real SAT/ACT — all scores are tracked automatically in your analytics dashboard.

Get Insights with Notifications and Analytics

After every session our instructors send a detailed summary note of what was covered. You'll get a text the moment a session ends. Log into the parent portal any time to see topic-by-topic progress without needing to ask your student or the instructor.
